REVIEW: A Worthy Pursuit by Karen Witemeyer

This past week every available moment I had was spent reading A Worthy Pursuit by Karen Witemeyer.  This author is completely new to me and she has now officially became one of my favorite authors!

A Worthy Pursuit is a historical romance fiction which is beautifully written.  With a mixture of suspense and romance it definitely had a way of touching my heart. 

The uniqueness of each of the characters make the book even more appealing.  Charlotte is a teacher who is suddenly left without a job.  She takes 3 of her students with her when she leaves the school… which causes some major problems throughout the book.

The grandfather's grandaughter is one of the children she takes with her.  He hires a couple of men to bring her back to him.  Stone is one of these men and he refers to himself as a “retriever,”

Stone took this job knowing exactly what he was going to do with all the money from this job.  He did not foresee that there might be another side to the story other than what the grandfather had told him.  Charlotte was very protective of the child that Stone came to get and she was willing to protect the child at all cost.   They both have faith in God and they put their trust in Him many times throughout the book.  As the story moves along Stone and Charlotte slowly develop a relationship that forces them to trust each other. 

You will have to read the book to find out all the details, but I highly recommend it!

LETTING GO OF YOUR LIMITATIONS - Experiencing God's Transforming Power

I was extremely slow about reading and finishing the book Letting Go of Your Limitations – Experiencing God’s Transforming Power  by Sandie Freed. I kept picking the book up and putting it down. It never really grabbed my attention like I need for a book to do.

This book talks about our purpose and why we were created – To Bring God Glory. If that is going to truly happen… we need to get rid of the things in our lives that hinder us from doing just that. I did enjoy the Time for Reflection sections…because it made me look at myself and do some evaluation. Legalism, pride, false beliefs, demonic spirits, and many other issues were discussed throughout the book. There were many Scripture references throughout the book that I always enjoying reading. 

For the most part though…I found the book to be very dry.  This author was brand new to me, so I would probably have a hard time picking up one of her books again.

10 Great Dates - Connecting Faith, Love & Marriage

10 Great Dates - Connecting Faith, Love & Marriage written by Larson & Arp was a wonderful book.    If couples want to grow together in their marriage, this would definitely be a book to try.  I was somewhat surprised by the content of the book.  Instead of giving ideas for Great Dates… it gives you topics to discuss.  Initially I was disappointed that I was not going to be shown the perfect ideas for a date with my husband.  I quickly got over it though.  J

Throughout the book there are some wonderful stories that were shared. Here are a few of my favorite date topics that were in the book

·         Building Your Marriage on a Strong Foundation

·         Making Your Marriage a Lighthouse

·         Experiencing God Together

·         Talking Together with God

I really enjoyed all of the date topics, but those were my absolute favorites.  For each of the 10 date topics there is  a section that the couple reads together (before the date of course).  There is also 2 pages that the couple does alone and then there is a 2-3 page discussion guide that the couple goes through together. The couple reads scripture together which is always a blessing for me.   

If you want to grow together as a couple, this would definitely be a book worth purchasing.  It will get you thinking about many different things together and as a couple.
